Staring at the faded letter in your lap, your fingers traced the words on the yellowing parchment.Mouthing the words on the letter,it seemed like it had been yesterday. The sound of gun shots, the blood shed...you shook your head gently to chase those depressing thoughts away.
"________,what are you reading?"England whispered, the loud voice of America echoing around the walls of the meeting.Handing him the letter, his eyes widened for a moment before he chuckled softly."It's been so long.Where did this letter come from?"
You shook your head."While I was packing my documents for the meeting, this flew out of a box."The letter was written by England, requesting your help to force America to stop rebelling. You were England's colony, and were eager to help England the best you could. In the end,you only succeeded in slowing America down.America's soaked blue coat and his large back still appeared in your nightmares, reminding you that you had played a part in the separation.
The letter was crinkled from your hands clenching it in tears countless times in the past."It mush have been Lithuania,he mentioned that he cleaned my house earlier."Chuckling, you remembered him lighting up when you mentioned that you needed help in cleaning.
England rested his head in his arm wearily."I remember that war.Bloody times,it was."A pen twirled idly in his free hand, his gaze locked on the American who was showing the countries the wonders of a Big Mac.Twirling a lock of hair, you settled on the table quietly.
"I'm sorry. If I stopped him with my entire army..."Your voice wandered off.You weren't sure whether using so much force on America was right,as you had to deal with other countries attacking you.In the end,you had sent a third of your forces, and watched America march away from a kneeling England in victory.
"Don't.If you had used all of your forces, you would have been either France's or Spain's colony.Even if stopping America did succeed, there would be a second war for freedom."England laughed, stroking your head gently."Plus, you wouldn't be able to see America on the stage now if the war didn't happen, right?"
You swatted his hand away to England's amusement."Stop it."Deep down, you knew England was right. He had been a country for a long time, and his war experiences were more colorful than yours. The smell of Earl Grey wafted through your nose, and a small cup appeared on your desk.Murmuring your thanks, the taste of tea slid down your parched throat.
"But...I do think of what would happen if I did stop him..."England pondered, deep in thought. His lips froze at the cup's golden rim,his eyes glassy.Chewing on your lip,you followed his gaze to America.A large smile was plastered on the American, and you imagined what he would look like if the smile was gone.
Tucking the letter into your file carefully, you quickly scribbled some notes down."Seriously, there are moments that I am actually happy that America has gotten his freedom. He sure has grown up,from a small child to a big country who annoys everyone."England smiled understandingly, and slammed his book shut when Germany announced that the meeting was over.
"We are getting old, thinking of things like these."England teased you,and you grinned. The wooden chair gave a squeak when you pushed it back, and left the meeting room.Something flying with a great speed hugged you from the back, and you nearly fell on the hard floor.
America grinned you, holding you steady."_______!What did you think of my talk?!"His voice was booming, and you found yourself wincing. He noticed that, and nuzzled you happily before repeating the question in a smaller voice.
"I didn't listen much."You laughed, and America's kisses on your neck paused for a moment before resuming the gentle whispers on your ear.
"I know. You were talking with Iggy the whole meeting..."He murmured, and you giggled. He was so cute when he was jealous, and you started comforting him.
"That's not it,Alfred."You smacked his head with a notebook, capturing his pouting face in your memory. He looked confused, and you explained it to him."We were talking about the past. You know, the war and everything..."At this point, your eyes were no longer focused on the blond boy in front of you,but the large window.
Not liking your tone or your topic with England,he hugged you tightly."________,it's all in the past.Plus, everything worked out fine.Don't talk about this topic when you're with England,it makes you moody the whole day."
Kissing his temple, your fingers entwined with his.He looked surprised, and chuckled.Leading the way,he walked with you into the warm sunlight.
"Great!Let's have a Big Mac!"He shouted, dragging you to the nearest McDonalds.
"Ehh?Again?!"You groaned, thinking of the numerous times you watched Alfred devour a mountain of burgers.
"It's fine!Let's go!"America laughed, and you found yourself laughing with him.The road there was short, and America filled it with jokes.Shaking with mirth when you arrived there, you didn't catch America looking relieved.
"She's back to normal, thank goodness. If she could be happy forever,I would exchange whatever is needed."America murmured softly to himself, and you looked back to see America smiling a weird smile at you that made your heart beat faster and face burn red.
"Aren't you coming?"You held out a hand, wondering why America would look so serious at that moment.America grinned, before placing his hand in yours, squeezing your hand lightly.
"Yes,I'm coming."Holding your hand tightly,he pushed the door of McDonalds open.

*Flash back*
What do you mean your leaving? You said looking at your boyfriend, Alfred, in astonishment. "I'm sorry __(y/n)__, but........ I've been called in... to go to war.", he said not looking you in the eye. "What, but you can't go, I need you.", you said, tears springing into your (e/c) eyes. By the time Alfred returned to his tent, [Name] was seething with rage
"You sicken me" She hissed
"Why is that?" He asked, as if nothing was wrong
She sighed angrily
"I heard what you were planning to do. You attacked your own brother!" [Name] shouted
"I had good reason! How could he let the British into my country?!" He asked angrily
"Did you ever consider that he didn't know they were there?" She asked back
Alfred fell silent and [Name] sighed
"You've lost sight of what you're fighting for. You once spoke of freedom, yet you've taken mine
you speak of justice, yet you struck your own brother down when he has done no wrong. Ar

You picked at your socks as you watched Arthur, Alfred, and Francis argue. Again. You weren't even sure what they were fighting about, but Arthur just called Alfred a bloody wanker. You weren't sure what that meant, so you turned to Francis. "What's a bloody wanker?" you asked. He smiled like the perv he was and leaned down to whisper in your ear. You must've gotten a really odd look on your face because all of a sudden Alfred looked at you through his glasses "_____, you don't think I'm a bloody wanker, do you?" "Of course not, Alfred, Arthur's just a big meanie," you said, glaring at the perv who was grinning well, pervily.

I was reading a book on the revolutionary war in class, and this idea popped up.It all started when my friend started getting depressed talking about her past mistakes, and I forced her to a near McDonalds. The relief that came when my friend started smiling was great, and I combined it with the idea of the war to write this story. This story is about America being serious for once, and I hope that people wouldn't think that he has nothing to worry about. He is a country after all,and the war must have damaged him.
